Kahlua and Cream
So you hate football but might be forced to watch some over the weekend? Don't want to catch yourself accidentally cheering for a sucky, misogynist fuckwit? Let me help you. This handy guide will assist you as you figure out which team has fewer offensively stupid/criminal players. If I forget someone, feel free to let me know. Please note that I can only report on someone who has been officially accused of a crime and has been reported on in some capacity. You can assume football players are entitled as hell.

This post will be macro-heavy.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry for the non-update, I've been crazy busy all week and weekend. I guess it might be worth it not to update you until I have something of value to say.

Well I can say this - OCM is an AMAZING make up remover. I went as Joan from Mad Men for Halloween, a decision which brought much fun and merriment but required a TON of makeup. I did OCM as soon as I got home. It swept off all the caked on foundation, blush, etc in a few swipes. A little more steaming and the waterproof eye makeup was gone as well. Pretty awesome.

As for the new 50/50 mix, not much to report so far. I do notice more dead skin getting pulled off. I'm just going to have to see if tomorrow some of this hormonal braking (only on one side of my face by the way) will be gotten rid off.

My honey has been infusing for one week! 50% there! I just need...dang...another week before I can try it out :(

Ugh, I have this zit close to my ear. It's very painful and red and sore. I had hoped to pass it off as a bug bite, but after cleansing I sat down and touched it on a whim, and felt oil still there. I have to be more careful about getting the oil off, as that's only going to keep happening the less careful I am. I'll just count my blessings it's in an easy place to remove.

4/10 still doesn't feel like enough. I know Sephora lady warned me against going half and half but I think it might be the best option for me. I told her I was practically an oil slick! I've also determined next mix I'll try to incorporate tamanu oil for it's scar healing properties. As you can tell from the listing, it's some kind of crazy elixir of life. Yes it's expensive, but when you consider the benefits (and the fact OCM is saving me mad money on moisturizer) I think it's worth it. I mean, a Sephora equivalent product runs in the $70-80 range and you usually have to use multiple bottles for full results.

... in fact, I just checked, and it's $17 for an 8 oz bottle, expensive for carrier oils (in comparison my 8 oz bottle of castor was $6 at Whole Foods) but cheaper than, oh, every single moisturizer I've ever considered using. Hmm, maybe tomorrow.

I didn't post last night because I felt sick enough to go straight to bed last night. But I continued my efforts today and missing a day didn't seem to hurt anything. There's a bit of acne going on but I'm still blaming it on hormones/still having some grossness left. Persistence is a virtue... sometimes.

I'm seeing a very busy week in my future, but I will try to at least keep up reports.

Yesterday I started working on my infused honey. I made a mix of half peppermint, half lavender from my herbal teas I had lying around. There isn't much this first time (unfiltered honey from a farmer's market is expensive, y'all) but I'm really excited about it. If it works out I might try and make a lot more next time. The herbs certainly smelled amazing together, can't wait to see how the honey looks and feels! I might even take pictures next time.

Ugh, still broken out on the neck and jawline. 50% next time, skin! I will get to the bottom of this!

Other than that it's the usual, clean soft skin and a couple of black outs gone. I did nearly get into a confrontation with my roommate though. The water's going as I'm massaging and she suddenly asks me if I meant to leave it running. I say yes and explain why and she goes "Oh, ok. It's just a huge waste of water is all."

... ok a couple of things.

1) I don't wash my face in the morning anymore (just brush my teeth) so I think it equals out.
2) This is day 7 and I explained the entire thing step by step the first few times I did it AND linked you to an explanation of the whole thing. You told me you want to start doing it too, you just need the oils.
3) This is a high rise - we don't pay for water.
4) Passive aggressive much?

It killed my happy positive thoughts mood. Admittedly I have been thinking about how to cut down, but it would take just as long to heat the water, cut it off, go massage, then turn it on and wait for the water to heat again.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS POSITIVE THOUGHTS POSITIVE THOUGHTS. This weekend has no choice but to be awesome. I demand it.

Kahlua and Cream

I have a terrible migraine so I'll make this quick.

My little squeeze bottle holds EXACTLY 10 tsp of oil so 40% is pretty difficult to pull off. Not so much the pouring in but the mixing. Let's just say I now fear I just covered my face in jojoba only. I shook it more after I finished cleaning so hopefully it won't happen again.

I have some breaking out going on in the chin/neck area which is decidedly unfun. I think it has more to do with stress than the oils. That said I am trying to give my jawline more time when I get to the steaming part. It's possible it might be pulling bad juju out that's deep within the skin. I'm willing to accept that - after all, part of the OCM method is to give it two weeks to a month to work fully. It's been 5 days. I can swing it.

Once I get paid I need to decide if I want to invest in adding temanu oil (which is expensive but great for scars I hear) or buy stuff to make LOTION BARS! These look like so much fun omg, especially the cute lil' molds. Of course I'll be getting the TOTES ADORABLE BUNNY MOLDS! My life has small pleasures, what can I say.

Funny thing happened today. I was massaging my skin as per usual with the oil and I noticed it got kind of...grainy. Not wanting to worry too much about it, I just kept going. Then as I'm steaming the skin I feel a little bit (not a lot) more graininess. I check the towel and there's a little black spot... guess the blackheads are starting to go! I like that. Good day.

Other than that, it's the usual. The skin does look a look more uniform where there isn't a scar, and redness is going down. I was reading Crunchy Betty today and I'm DYING to try more of her recipes (especially one for a honey wash... sounds amazing for the mornings). I've got to get my next paycheck, instead of wasting it at Lush/Sephora I'll waste it as Whole Foods and be all the happier for it.

I'm feeling sick so I'll cut it short for now. Tomorrow, incidentally, will probably be my last wash with the first batch, and then after that I'll up the castor for a bit.

OK so I lied before. I decided to finish off the mix I already made before I add more castor oil. I suspect I have enough for tomorrow THEN I will be out.

I don't really have much to update. The two zits on my eyebrow are still there but smaller. I don't have any new zits, just the bumpiness I've noticed since I started. One side of my face seems pretty clear, the other not as much (maybe it's the side I sleep on).

Having finally taken in a Monday without washing my face immediately, I have to say, it really sheds time off my morning routine. Instead of letting the water heat up, washing my face, drying it, spot treating, toning, letting the toner air dry, moisturize THEN get dressed I just tone and add a touch of moisture. And maybe I'm crazy (probably) but I feel like the toner really absorbs quicker, maybe because my pores aren't as clogged or because there aren't as many products on my face. I also end up using far less of my moisturizer, which is good because that shit is expensive no matter how long it lasts.

Maybe I can see if I can get my roomie to use up the mix I've already created. I really want to get to the part where the castor oil starts wrecking all my problem areas (though the softening of my skin and the lack of new zits every morning is well appreciated!)

I also bought Crunchy Betty's book. I haven't gotten too far into it but it's interesting. I can't wait until I get to recipes.

No obvious results when I woke up this morning. I'm thinking I might add more castor next time I do this - the skin is clearly very soft and clean after I cleanse but I'm not seeing the hardcore acne/blackhead/whitehead busting effects I've read about. Then again, my face IS an oil slick under normal circumstances so...

Fun note, I actually spent so much time pressing and rinsing my sink rebelled on me and started giving me warm water, which would be fine any time I'm not trying to dissolve oils. But I was done anyway so suck it, passive-aggressive sink.

Skin Notes
1) Pores seem to be bigger, whether that's the oil trying to pull stuff out by force the effect of glutting it with jojoba is anyone's guess.
2) A lot more bumps this time, though I hesitate to consider the pores clogged. It's not inflamed and not as that big. Just annoying.
3) Redness is more pinkness this time. Oddly, the scarring on my face kind of took on that pinkishness as well.
4) I have no prominent gross zits other than the two on my eyebrow. Weird place for zits, I know. What I did have seems to be healing somewhat. The gargantuan zit on my  chin now just looks like a small, dismal bump.

So it's a toss up at this point.  There's more bumpiness but no traditional big, painful zits. I'll call it a draw for now.
